Civil Engineers and Regulating Authorities often require to assess the existing concrete structure's reinforcement strength & its stability. For the purpose, a method like impact hammer etc. is not advisable as it damages the structure. Further, it only measures the density of the RCC but cannot test the shear strength & load bearing capacity of the structure, which are related with the reinforcement used. It is often required to know the depth of the concrete cover above the steel reinforcement, the location of the reinforcement and also its diameters.

ASHIDA Pachometer, a non-destructive test instrument, is designed to fulfill these typical requirements. It employs modern instrumentation & technology which ensures the correctness & the readings obtained from the instrument, the Structural Engineer can wisely decide whether the existing RCC structure can be additionally loaded.
 
INSTRUMENT & OPERATION PRINCIPLE: The instrument is supplied in convenient portable carrying case & operates on standard battery cells readily available. Two sensors are supplied as standard accessories. One for depth assertion & another for diameter assertion. The sensors are sharply turned balanced coils the output of which is proportional to the mass of the magnetic material in the axis. The depth sensor is critically turned to give null balance ( minima) at fixed distance from the ferrous mass, in a given axis.
 
The main circuitry has stabilised power oscillators and amplifiers with calibrated gain. Standard chart of Depth-Diameter-Gain relationship is supplied with each instrument. Steel rods of standard diameters are also supplied to calibrate the instrument on-site, to ensure the accuracy & reliability of the results obtained.
 
The sturdy sensors have convenient non-metallic handles & alignment sense-line markings. The 02 meters long connecting cable between the sensor & the instrument makes it convenient to take the readings in difficult area / situations.
